FAQs

WHAT IS THE PRINTING PROCESS?

DTG (Direct-to-Garment) applies water-based ink directly onto the fabric, where it quickly absorbs into the fibres—much like a large, high-speed inkjet printer. This method works best on cotton and light-coloured garments, producing soft, high-quality prints.

DTF (Direct-to-Film) prints the design onto a special film, which is then heat-pressed onto the garment. This allows printing on a wider range of fabrics, including polyester and dark colours, with vibrant, durable results.

Both methods offer precise, full-colour prints with excellent detail and finish.

IS THERE A LIMIT ON HOW MANY COLOURS I CAN PRINT?

Absolutely not! You can print a one colour design or a full colour photograph, there's no limit to how many colours you can print and there are no setup fees.

HOW LONG DOES A DIGITAL PRINT LAST?

Our prints, created using Brother DTG and Roland DTF printers, are designed to last. With proper care and washing guidelines followed, DTG prints can last over 100-150 washes, while DTF prints offer excellent durability and vibrant colour retention.

Keep in mind, polyester blends and marl colours may fade sooner, so extra care when washing and drying will help extend the life of your print. Avoid excessive sun exposure and harsh detergents, as these can reduce print longevity.

WHAT KIND OF INK DO YOU USE?

We use high-quality, water-based inks in both our Brother DTG and Roland DTF printers. These inks are OEKO-TEX® Eco Passport certified, ensuring they meet global safety standards and are free from harmful substances, making them safe for textile use qa.dtgpro.com+1. Additionally, they are CPSIA compliant, meaning they are safe for use on children's clothing jbsewing.com.

These certifications confirm that our inks are non-toxic and suitable for printing on garments intended for all ages.

IS DIGITAL PRINTING THE SAME AS SCREEN PRINTING?

Digital printing methods like DTG and DTF are quite different from traditional screen printing, and they produce different results. These differences come from the way the ink is applied, the types of inks used, and the range of colours available.

When comparing DTG or DTF prints to screen prints, you may notice variations in texture, colour vibrancy, and detail.

IS THE PRODUCTION PROCESS ENTIRELY AUTOMATED?

Yes and no. While DTG and DTF printing are more automated compared to traditional methods like screen printing, there’s still a hands-on element in our production process. Beyond picking, folding, and packing your garments, our skilled team loads each piece into the printer, checks settings, monitors print quality, makes necessary adjustments, and performs routine maintenance. With years of experience, we deliver print results that go beyond the standard.

DTG or DTF?

Direct-to-Film (DTF) Printing is a modern method where your design is first printed onto a film transfer, then applied to the garment using a heat press. While it might sound similar to DTG, they’re quite different!

We use DTF printing on specific garments where it delivers better results—like polyester, heavy fabrics, caps, hi-vis gear, and activewear. If a product will be printed using DTF instead of DTG, this will be clearly noted in the product description.
